Against All Odds

When someone has achieved a major milestone or reached their zenith in their life, usually rewards and accolades follow by - recognizing their performance. Though at that point, those performers receiving the awards may look natural for people, those are the people who may have ignored, disbelieved, resisted, hated the performers during their pursuit.

So when Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were named as the Time's person of the year 2020 a few days ago, there is normally a tendency to be complacent that they are now the President and Vice President elect for the highest office and hence getting this reward is natural and granted one.

But beneath that victory, there is definetely a tremendous amount of courage and conviction to fight against injustice, racial discrimination, hate speech and passion to serve good for the general public, bring back the empathy and more importantly bring back the respect the highest office needed.

Historically, it had never been easy to stand against an incumbent President and stand a chance to win. But Biden has done that mainly because of 2 reasons I believe - first, personally it may be now or never for Biden on his Presidential dreams due to his age factor. It is true that in many circumstances of our life, we deliver our best when we are put under now or never scenario.

Second and more importantly, the notion of American Democracy and the several decades of hard earned rights and equal treatment for every citizen have been under severe threat of disintegration and emboldenment of hatred voices under the current leadership. America desperately needed someone with very deep political experience to challenge what was becoming as the new status quo.

More than Biden needed American Presidency, America needed a Biden. And the rest is history. If anyone who has read about Biden's personal struggle and long political history in the making will very well know that his victory is never by accident. And hence Time's recognition as the person of the year is well deserved and obtained through decades of hard work, perseverance, empathy and right attitude.

It's really a moment to celebrate in American history to bring back sunny days.
