Blackout

There was a blackout in Pakistan yesterday. So the news of this power outage in a developing country is worldwide news today. A good way to interpret this news would be, having electricity available 24/7 365 days a year even in a developing country is taken as a granted right worldwide.

Think about this for a second whether this outage would be considered a big news a few decades ago. Overall this shows our collective progress. As we all aspire to dump fossil fuels and move towards electric cars, dependency on availability of electricity is definitely going to increase in the coming years. This also shows how we have a "take it for granted attitude" towards our human progress.

Infact our everyday progress relies heavily on these status quo assumptions. And when such a breach happens purposefully by the ruling elite for promoting their own agendas, for sure it is going to bring back lots of painful memories, sacrifices and struggles which have been made along the way to reach today's status quo.

America is a country which has gone through several iterations of wars, injustices and insurrections to uphold the rights and benefits which people enjoy today as status quo. History has repeatedly told us that lies deliberately spread by the ruling elite and intolerance are usually the recipes of things going out of control. It is a prelude for emotional pain and fear due to the reckless selfishness and cynicism displayed by few powerful men.

Arnold's message here does reflect the painful memories, sacrifices and struggles which have been made along the way to reach today's status quo. For those who think that there is overreaction going on surrounding all the incidents which happened in Capitol Hill this week - it is basically about setting the precedent.

If those who are responsible for inciting this are let go scot-free, it sets a precedent. A dangerous precedent for future generations. Hope common sense prevails. Amen!
